ROAD Directions to Totteridge Gallery using the M11, A120 and B1024
Earls Colne is 28 miles from M11 junction 8/8A, and 42 miles from the M25/M11 junction (M25 junction 27, M11 junction 6).
- Leave the M11 north bound at Junction 8A (Stansted Airport and A120 East exit) onto the A120 towards Colchester.
- Leave the M11 south bound at Junction 8 - then follow the signs for the A120 East towards Colchester.
- Continue on the A120 for Braintree and at the Galleys Corner roundabout take the second exit, continuing on the A120.
- At the Marks Farm roundabout, take the third exit, turning right for Colchester, remaining on the A120.
- Continue on the A120 through the village of Bradwell and for a further 1.5 miles.
- Turn left onto the B1024 for Earls Colne, signposted Marks Hall, Essex Country Club and Earls Colne.
- After about 3 miles you will enter Earls Colne village and come to a mini roundabout.
- Turn left at this roundabout towards the church and follow the road round into the village centre.
- The gallery can be found on your left hand side, half way along the High Street, next to the Post Office.

ROAD Directions to Totteridge Gallery using the A12 and A1124
Earls Colne is about 7 miles from A12 junction 26 & 42 miles from the M25/A12 junction (M25 junction 28).
- Leave the A12 at Junction 26 (Stanway) taking the A1124 towards Halstead and Eight Ash Green.
- Follow this road through Eight Ash Green, Aldham, Ford Street, Chappel, Wakes Colne and White Colne to Earls Colne (note: there are about 10 speed limit changes along this stretch of road).
- You enter Earls Colne village at a bridge over the River Colne.
- Continue into the village and turn right at the mini roundabout and follow the road round past the church and into the village centre.
- The gallery can be found on your left hand side, half way along the High Street, next to the Post Office.

RAIL Directions to Totteridge Gallery using the Great Eastern Main Line
("GE", sometimes referred to as the East Anglia Main Line).
Earls Colne is 2.5 miles from Chappel & Wakes Colne station.
- The East Anglia Main Line runs from London Liverpool Street to Norwich, via Chelmsford, Colchester, Ipswich and Diss.
- Change at Marks Tey onto the Sudbury branch line (also known as the Gainsborough Line).
- Alight at the next station, Chappel & Wakes Colne, after crossing the imposing Chappel Viaduct. (The station is home to the East Anglian Railway Museum).
- From Chappel & Wakes Colne station you can either phone for a taxi or take a bus to Earls Colne.
- If you plan to take a taxi, please make a note of some local taxi numbers (in nearby towns such as Halstead or Colchester) before starting your journey.
- To take a bus, exit via the station drive, and turn left down the hill. At the bottom of the hill cross over the road to the bus shelter adjacent to the Wakes Colne post office and general store. Take the 88 or 88A bus to Earls Colne. There is an hourly service Monday to Saturday, and two-hourly service on Sundays and Bank Holidays. (The bus shelter is about 400 yards from the station).
- Alight at Earls Colne High Street. The gallery can be found half way along the High Street, next to the Post Office.
